Juracon 2022: diversity as a leadership topic
In his capacity as Chair of the Supervisory Board of the non-profit Association of Junior Lawyers of Hesse (Verein der Rechtsreferendare Hessen e.V. – VdRH), Dr. Björn Bronger moderated a panel at JURAcon in Frankfurt on the different fields of work open to lawyers.
Most guests probably expected the discussion to open with entry requirements, salaries or work-life balance. All of that was covered – but the panellists were first asked to set out what their organisations actually do on diversity and inclusion.
Diversity is a decisive factor: it benefits employers commercially and shapes the working atmosphere in tangible ways. On gender, people with disabilities and other facets of diversity there is room for improvement everywhere – which made it all the more encouraging that the panel was willing to discuss the topic openly.
